COVID-19 Update: Back to Work (updated 05/01/20)

Precautions & Procedures

Latest Update: May 1st, 2020

Last week PEI government officials released their plan for a relaxing of public health restrictions.  The Renew PEI Together plan includes four phases of progressive lifting of restrictions on individuals, communities and businesses.

We were pleased to see that in the first phase starting May 1, lawn care businesses like Weed Man are now permitted to operate.  We are busy getting ready to start work and plan to start delivering lawn care services this week.

We are getting started a few weeks late and would really appreciate your patience as we get up and running.  In previous correspondence, we did advise that we may have to move early Spring services (aerations and liming applications) to the Fall.  However, with an early May start, we are optimistic we can get most if not all of these services done in addition to our other Spring services.  If we do have to make any adjustments to our service schedule that impacts you we will advise you as soon as possible.

At Weed Man the safety of our staff and customers is paramount.  To keep our staff safe we have put in place a detailed COVID-19  plan.  This plan has been designed to ensure the safety of our staff, customers, and members of the public.  Some things to be aware of in this plan:

1.  Our field staff work individually in their own vehicle and have been provided with cleaning supplies and sanitizer so that they can regularly clean their work vehicle during the day and practice safe hygiene.

2.  We will not be leaving any paperwork (door hangers, invoices, quotes etc.) at the door when we visit your property.  We will leave a sign on your lawn when we complete a service and email you the invoice, quote or other paperwork (sent by mail if we do not have an email address on file).

3.  Our staff will not knock on the door prior to or after completing a service or other visit.  We ask all our customers to communicate with our office by phone or email if they have any questions or concerns.  Our staff are instructed to practice proper social distancing in any interactions with customers or members of the public and not to enter customers' homes.

We have designed this plan keep our staff safe by minimizing physical interaction between our staff and customers.   Our staff will work hard to follow this plan and still provide the high level of service our customers expect.

Thanks for your patience.  We can't wait to get your lawn looking its best!

Latest Update: April 13, 2020

We want our staff to be able to work as soon as government and public health officials say we can operate, as long as we can do so in a safe manner.

In its efforts to flatten the curve, PEI has required that many businesses operating in PEI must close until further notice.  If a business is deemed essential it is allowed to operate (for PEI's list of Essential and Non-essential services  click here ).

Weed Man was recently advised by PEI Public Health that we are only considered an essential service with respect to treating insect infestations and not for other lawn care services.  Therefore, we will not be delivering lawn care services until the government says we are permitted to do so.  We do not know when we will be able to reopen, but plan to do so as soon as allowed.

As a result, we are making the following changes with respect to existing and new orders:

1. All spring aeration's and lime applications will be switched to the fall. If you have those services on order you do not need to do anything, these services will be switched over automatically.

2. As soon as the government relaxes or lifts the COVID-19 restrictions on businesses like ours we will start up operations.  We do not know when that will be,and as time passes, we will make further adjustments to our service schedule based on order volume, time of year and product availability.  This may involve shifting the service schedule or cancelling services if we do not have time to deliver them.  We will communicate with you as soon as we make any decisions on service schedule, delivery or cancellations.

As always, you are free to make any adjustments to your services by calling or emailing our office. If you have not ordered services for the season yet and wish to do so, please call or email us or visit our customer portal ( by clicking here ). We are optimistic that the stringent steps taken by the federal and provincial governments with flatten the curve and get us back to normal as soon as possible.  Thanks for your past business and we look forward to serving you again.

Thank you and stay healthy!

Sincerely,

Weed Man Maritimes

Latest Update: March 30, 2020

Like many businesses across Canada and the world, we are closely monitoring the situation with COVID-19 coronavirus.  Weed Man Maritimes has implemented measures to protect our customers, staff and members of the public to the best of our ability. We will continue to monitor developments and guidance from all levels of Government and will communicate any adjustments we make for our staff and customers on an ongoing basis.

Office/warehouse procedures - With respect to these facilities, we have increased our already stringent workplace safety and sanitation requirements.  Our new procedures include:

1. Frequently disinfecting surfaces and work equipment throughout the workday.

2. We encourage our staff to follow all recommended safe hygiene practices, including practicing social distancing, frequent hand washing, using hand sanitizers, regular cleaning of their work area/vehicle and limiting physical contact with others (including no handshakes).

3. Any staff who have been out of the country are required to self-quarantine for 14 days and exhibit no flu-like symptoms before reporting to work.

4. Staff are required to stay home if they ill, are exhibiting flu-like symptoms, or who have been in physical contact with family who have such symptoms.

5. Effective immediately, we are restricting access to our office and warehouse facilities to employees only.  For customers who have previously come to our head office in Dartmouth, NS to order services or pay bills, we are asking those customers to contact us (contact information at the end of this notice). You can also order services and make payments on our customer portal: customer.weedmancanada.com or make payments at most banks/financial institutions.

Delivery of Services – For our field staff who perform lawn care services and regularly interact with our customers at their properties, we have implemented the following new procedures:

1. Our field staff will no longer knock on the door before or after completing a lawn care service.  If you have questions or concerns about your Weed Man service, please contact our office by phone or email.  If you do speak directly to our field staff, please practice social distancing of two metres or more.

2. We will post a sign after service completion, but until further notice, we will no longer leave a door hanger with information on the completed service.  You will receive this information on your invoice.

3. If you are signed up for email/text pre-notification, you will receive notice of a service the day before we do the service on your property.  You will also receive an invoice by email or mail after the service is completed showing details of the service and balance owing (if any).  If you are not yet signed up for email/text pre-notification or want to receive your invoices by email, please contact our office by phone or email.

4. Wherever possible we will deliver quotes, statements and other communications to our customers using electronic means (ie. email or text).

Our ultimate goal is to minimize the physical interaction between our staff and our customers and members of the public while still providing you with the level of service you expect.  Please check our website and your email regularly as we will use those methods to communicate any changes that impact our staff and customers.  At any time you can contact our office with questions or concerns at 1-877-434-9333 or info@weedmanmaritimes.ca.
